From protected area managers and government ministers to radio room operators and wildlife researchers, the EarthRanger User Conference is the place for you to get equipped with the knowledge and tools you need to empower your work.

The conference will be held 1-5 November, 2023 and will run from roughly 08:00 to 17:00 (05:00 PM) each day
The EarthRanger User Conference will kick off with a lively and engaging cocktail reception on 1 November at 17:00 (5:00 PM). This reception will provide attendees with a fantastic opportunity to network, socialize, and get acquainted with fellow participants. Following the cocktail reception, a dinner will be served immediately, allowing everyone to enjoy a meal while continuing to build connections.
Participants can expect an immersive and inspiring experience at this year's event featuring 3 days of keynotes, hands-on training, plus more than 40 sessions from some of the world's leading conservationists and organizations. Nightly networking activities will connect you with other like-minded conservationists and technologists, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. In addition, the exhibitor showcase offers access to learn about the latest conservation technology products and services to improve your work.
The conference plans to cover a diverse range of topics involving conservation and the use of technology for protected areas and species around the world. You can review a preliminary program on the agenda page. More details about the agenda will be shared in August
The conference provides support for English language only. All sessions, presentations, and training will be conducted and provided in English. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who may require translation services or support in other languages.
We do not provide a live stream. All of the sessions will be recorded and available to view on our YouTube page a few weeks after the conference.

ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE
The EarthRanger User Conference is primarily designed for conservation and conservation technology practitioners. It serves as a platform for professionals working in the field of conservation to come together, share insights, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on leveraging technology for conservation efforts. While the conference welcomes individuals with geniune interest in the topic, its content and discussions are tailored specifically for those actively involved in conservation work. Therefore, the event is most beneficial for conservation practitioners (e.g. protected area managers, rangers, radio room operators, etc.), researchers, experts, and individuals working in conservation-related fields. The cost of the conference varies depending on several factors, including registration timing, accommodation preferences, and delegate category. For the first 250 delegates who pre-register for the conference, EarthRanger will provide food, accommodation, and, if needed, airport transfers from Cape Town’s international airport for two (2) people per non-profit, NGO or non-U.S. governmental organization. These guests are provided with a shared double/twin room with another participant of the same gender.
For delegates who prefer to pay for a private room, accommodation expenses are payable directly to the hotel. Rates are below:
- Single room (1 pax) starts at R2,980 ($158) per night and goes up to R3,980 ($211) per night.
- Sharing double/twin room (2 pax) starts at R4,380 ($232) per night for two (2) people and go up to R5,380 ($285) per night for two (2) people.
- Day passes are available for this year's event. The price of this option is R600 per person per day. This includes a pass to the conference, all tea breaks, and lunch. This does not include dinner, however.
Note: Accommodation prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner, two drink tickets per day, conference fees, and, if needed, airport transfers to/from Cape Town International Airport. It's important to note that all prices are subject to VAT and variations in currency rates.
EarthRanger does not cover the expense of your travel arrangements which includes airfare, gas reimbursement, or pier diem. We do not provide accommodation before 1 November, 2023 and meals outside of the conference are not covered. Other excluded expenses are the spa, hair salon, telephone calls, laundry, and in-room dining. EarthRanger provides two drink tickets a night. Any additional drinks will need to be covered by the delegate.
Yes, there is a waitlist for those who wish to have their accommodation covered by EarthRanger. While we aim to support as many people as possible, the availability of accommodation coverage is very limited. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that everyone on the waitlist will receive this benefit.
Yes! We encourage organizations to send as many representatives as they deem necessary. Any additional attendees will need to cover their own expenses, which varies depending on accommodation preferences.
Day passes are available for this year's event. The price of this option is R600 per person per day. This includes a pass to the conference, all tea breaks, and lunch. This does not include dinner, however.
The deadline for registering for the EarthRanger User Conference is 29 September, 2023. We encourage you to mark this date on your calendar and ensure that you complete your registration before the deadline. As the conference draws closer, the demand for spots may increase, so registering early will help secure your place.
To determine whether or not you need a visa to travel to South Africa for the EarthRanger User Conference, we recommend reviewing the guidelines provided by the South African authorities. For those unable to attend, we plan to release session recordings to the public after our event ends.

The EarthRanger User Conference will be held at Lagoon Beach Hotel.
We provide airport transfers only from Cape Town's international airport.
Car park is free of charge to all hotel guests - space reservation is not required.
HOTEL
Yes, you will need to have a credit card to put on file for incidentals or personal room charges when you check into the hotel.
A cocktail dinner will be provided to participants on 1 Nov. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided to participants staying at the hotel between 2-4 Nov. Breakfast will be provided on 5 Nov.
Please see anyone at the hotel's front desk to obtain a copy of your receipt.
ATTENDANCE
Yes, attendees have the option to come for a portion of the conference. However, if we are covering their expenses, we strongly suggest against it if possible. Our goal is to ensure that attendees can take full advantage of the EarthRanger User Conference and maximize their experience. Attending the entire conference allows participants to fully immerse themselves in the engaging sessions, valuable hands-on training, and networking opportunities that span the event's duration. If we are covering the expenses of attendees and they are considering attending only a portion of the conference, we kindly request them to reach out to us at eruc@earthranger.com.
Space is limited for in-person attendance, so if for any reason you can no longer attend, please email us at eruc@earthranger.com as soon as possible so we can make your spot available to another participant.
Yes, you are welcome to bring your spouse or partner to the EarthRanger User Conference. Please note that additional fees will be required for your spouse or partner to stay at the hotel as pricing includes breakfast, dinner, and two drink tickets per day
ADDITIONAL CONFERENCE DETAILS
Yes, attendees are welcome to arrive early or stay late at the hotel for the EarthRanger User Conference. However, please note that additional charges will apply for any extra nights beyond the designated conference dates. There is no dress code at the EarthRanger User Conference. We want all attendees to feel comfortable and at ease during the event.
