Choose Joy
Speaker: Melissa Wright
Brief Summary:
President Russell M. Nelson teaches, “If we look to the world and follow its formulas for happiness, we will never know joy. The unrighteous may experience any number of emotions and sensations, but they will never experience joy! Joy is a gift for the faithful. It is a gift that comes from intentionally trying to live a righteous life, as taught by Jesus Christ. He taught us how to have joy. When we choose Heavenly Father to be our God and when we can feel the Savior’s Atonement working in our lives, we will be filled with joy...Every day that you and I choose to live celestial laws, everyday that we keep our covenants and help others to do the same, joy will be ours.” How can we know the difference between lasting joy and short-term happiness? How can we continually experience joy on the covenant path despite trials and avoid becoming discouraged?
Waiting by the Pool of Bethesda
Speakers: Alecia Jackson, Sabine Schindler
Brief Description:
There are many who wait, metaphorically speaking, by the pool of Bethesda hoping to be carried into the healing waters. Families who may feel overwhelmed by a child’s illness, disability or an unexpected accident and who work long, lonely hours taking care of them who are waiting to be carried into the water. While we wait, we take comfort in that fact that Jesus Christ knows intimately all that we suffer and experience, and while we wait for the healing, he offers us hope.
Guiding Teenagers
Speaker: Melissa Eaves
Brief Description:
Parenting teenagers is not for the faint of heart. How do we continue to love our child as the Savior does? How do we maintain a meaningful relationship without criticizing or reacting in fear because of their choices? As we are divinely guided, sincere moments of connection will allow light to gently soften and illuminate hearts and minds.
Age Is Just A Number
Speakers: Carolyn LeSueur, Lorry Goodman
Brief Description:
We are here to live life to the fullest each day no matter what stage of life we are in. The Lord has promised those who keep their physical bodies clean, that they will “run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint”. Careful planning is a Christ-like attribute; we can create opportunities to grow spiritually, physically, intellectually, and socially.
Faithful Transitions - Seeing the Dawn after Divorce

What do you do when your happily ever after is upset? How do you mend your heart and relationships while forgiving and going forward with gratitude. Your story is not over, Heavenly Father has a plan for your happily ever after. How do we continually keep our focus on the Lord? How can we change our hearts to feel His healing balm? “God’s light has the power to soften the sting of the deepest wounds.” (Elder Uchtdorf)
Loving those who Stray from the fold of God
Speakers: Amy Johnson, Kim Herring
Brief Description:
“The Shepherd will find his sheep. They were his before they were yours.” Orson F. Whitney. How do we effectively maintain a meaningful relationship without criticizing? How do we incorporate answers from the scriptures to enhance our relationships? As we work personally to draw nearer to the Savior, He helps us reach out in love to others. Strengthening relationships is a Christ-like attribute: mastering it requires constant effort, prayer, and faith.
Gaining Strength in the Early Years of Motherhood
Speaker: Alison Holm
Brief Description:
Mothers are doing God’s work and are in an eternal partnership with Him. In the early years of motherhood, mothers often feel exhausted and unappreciated. Elder Jeffery R. Holland counsels, “Do the best you can through these years, but whatever else you do, cherish that role, for which heaven itself sends angels to watch over you and your little ones.” How do mothers “cherish” their role? How do mothers build spiritual, physical, and mental reserves within our “new normal”? How can mothers learn to not feel guilty when their own bucket needs to be filled?
Help and Hope with Anxiety & Depression
Speaker: Nikki Parkinson
Brief Description:
Elder Jeffery R. Holland counsels, “Above all, never lose faith in your Father in Heaven, who loves you more than you can comprehend.” He then advises us to “seek the advice of reputable people with certified training, professional skills, and good values.” What can you do to help yourself, child or loved one manage depression and anxiety? How can an eternal perspective and faith help us cope as we support ourselves and others with mental challenges?
The Temple Here and Now
Speaker: Dan and Michelle Skinner
Brief Description:
"Perhaps for a little longer we cannot be physically in the temple, but is the temple in us?" (Elder David A. Bednar)
Join us as we consider ways to keep the temple covenants and ordinances in us; as we identify potential resources for parents in teaching children about the temple; and as we review what can appropriately be shared in preparing one to enter the House of the Lord.
Parenting Adult Children
Speaker: Scott and Jeanine Salmon
Brief Description:
At some point in time children venture out on their own to learn, to make choices and discover who they are. Our role as a parent doesn’t end when they leave our home but expands as we love those our children choose. We still listen, we still love, we still anchor ourselves to the Savior as we witness the majesty of Heavenly Father’s Plan of growth and progression one generation at a time.
